Greeting Flying Eagles!

I am Carissa Morgan and am one of the two Command Ombudsmen here at VFA-122. I am excited to be a part of such a great command and look forward to getting to work with you, the sailors and families, here at VFA-122.

Let me take this opportunity to share a little about myself. My husband & I have 4 children ranging in age from 4 to 12 and we are in the 18th year of his Navy career.   I spent 10 years as a stay-home mom before stepping back into the work force last year. I am a Family Resource Specialist and Special Education Advocate at Exceptional Parents Unlimited, in Fresno, where I work with families of children who have special needs. I coordinate services for the kids and resources for their families, and also help them learn to navigate through the school system, specifically special education, to ensure the kids are getting an appropriate education. My husband and I also facilitate a support group here on base for parents of special needs kids, as we are.

I have received a great deal of training in working with families, and more specifically with military families, through such organizations as STOMP (Specialized Training of Military Parents) & TASKmil (Team of Advocates for Special Kids Military Outreach), to name a few. Prior to reporting to VFA-122, I served as an Ombudsman at VFA-22, during which the command deployed on what turned out to be nearly a 9 month cruise. Needless to say we are thrilled to enjoy some time at a shore command!
